"When we started building our real time video product, we were working on a pretty lean team, so we reached out to Qualabs to get feedback on the user experience of this new product. This really helped us understand where the documentation maybe was weak or where we picked the wrong abstraction potentially in an SDK, to help us refine the product, make it easier when we came to launching it and gave us more confidence. It's always great working with the team, we've worked on a variety of projects over the years including other products that we've launched, testing across devices, score different video players and obviously getting feedback on this early stage project, was great as well."
Qualabs collaborated with Alex Giladi to showcase DASH overlays at Demuxed 2025, demonstrating real-time client-side overlays for video streaming. Using MPEG-DASH's event messaging, the solution enables dynamic overlays without server-side processing. Contributions to Shaka Player and dash.js helped expand its adoption, enhancing user experience, accessibility, and monetization.
The AMA Portal drastically reduces the likelihood of errors and enhances the user experience, allowing even those with limited technical expertise to fully leverage the power of the MA35D.
At Qualabs, we embrace innovation and community-driven development. Inspired by Steve Heffernan’s Player.style, we created the X-mas theme, a fully customizable video player UI, simplifying player customization using MediaChrome. Building on this success, we contributed to the IETF MoQ Player, developing a web component that enables seamless Player.style integration across different video players. This initiative enhances customization, integration, and scalability, empowering developers to create engaging video experiences effortlessly.
Moon Qnights, our dedicated video team, faced several challenges while working with a client in the healthcare technology industry. They were tasked with working on all aspects of video to build a telemedicine platform from scratch and to higher standards, which required adopting a rapid application development (RAD) approach.
The challenge involved implementing core functions such as video on demand (VOD) and live streaming on Roku, taking full advantage of the potential of its user interfaces. In addition, integrating analytics and advertising systems was crucial to gain valuable user insights and revenue opportunities. The lack of comprehensive documentation, developer support, preview tools, and emulators further complicated the development and testing process, requiring innovative solutions and a flexible approach.
The client needed their streaming platform solution to be stable and scalable to generate events without system downtime, being able to support a large number of participants with high quality of the video and without impacting the product's ease-of-use for non-IT professionals.
